GROUP SERVICES PROGRAM

Trilogy’s Group Services are designed to offer clients a wide range of educational, social and psychotherapeutic group experiences with the aim of helping people to better understand and manage their own illnesses; to develop more effective and rewarding coping skills; to build vocational abilities; and, to improve social functioning. Central to the philosophy of our group services is a belief in the possibility of long-term recovery from mental illness and mental illness with co-occurring substance use issues.

We operate under the assumption that people can and do make good choices for themselves when offered accurate information, a wide array of recovery options, acceptance, and support. Treatment approaches attempt to maximize individuals’ independence, self-sufficiency, and quality of life. This involves helping people identify their strengths, talents, and interests.

Three specialized group services tracks are
described below:

  • Integrated Dual Disorders Treatment (IDDT): We recognize that many people with mental illness have co-existing problems related to substance use and also that if both issues exist; both issues must be addressed in an integrated fashion. Our IDDT focus of treatment includes educational, supportive and therapeutic components designed to assist people in dealing with their mental illness, substance use and the interaction between the two.

  • Expressive Arts Program: Recognizing that the arts have healing properties and that everyone can be creative, Trilogy has developed an Expressive Arts program that utilizes the arts towards the goal of recovery. The Expressive Arts Program is devoted to providing our clients with a safe, supportive environment for expressing themselves creatively through the arts. Trilogy also offers art therapy for those clients who could benefit from psychotherapy but are more comfortable with communicating through the non-verbal qualities of visual art media.

  • Refocus Treatment Program: Trilogy’s Refocus track is a structured, change based treatment designed for people who may be struggling with impulsivity and relationship problems due to difficulty managing intense emotions. This program is appropriate for those who have been stagnant in treatment, although motivated to change their self-defeating behaviors and who have a willingness to participate in treatment.
